A Case For The Book of Mormon

As I was preparing what I wanted to write about, I read the last few entries and realized the most common topic is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the role it plays in my life. This blog has become my outlet for sharing my thoughts and be able to word vomit all my thoughts and feelings that are in my soul and on the surface. So thank you for reading and love me.

2 years ago almost exactly, President Monson gave a talk that was very short and to the point. He basically said "If you are not reading the Book of Mormon every day, please do so now." When that command, if you will, was given, both Jared and I looked at each other and knew this was something we could drastically improve on. Individually and as a family. From that day, we started the Book of Mormon together and read every. single. day. We NEVER missed. Even when we were spending the night away from one another, we would call and read over the phone, or even times when one of us was almost asleep, one of us would always read. This brought a great habit to our marriage and brought blessings to our lives. It took us 2 years, you guys, but we did it! We finished last week and took Moroni's challenge to pray and ask our loving Heavenly Father is the words we had just read for the last 24 months were indeed true. We knelt down together Sunday evening and prayed for that confirmation to come in His timing. 

Today is Wednesday and I was listening to a podcast episode with Tad Callister about a book he wrote called A Case for The Book of Mormon. So a little back story, Brother Callister is a lawyer and has been in many courtrooms and has had to make many cases for his clients. He knows how to make a great case and argument to defend what he is asked to. So he wrote a book set up like a case he would right. He complied all the arguments about the BOM and all the false accusations made and archaeological findings and debunks them ALL! [ Side note: I have already had SEVERAL confirmations that the BOM is true and i still continue to read and ask for continual truth and knowledge ] But there was something about all the facts he was giving that i never really thought about. He talks about how people dont think Joseph Smith was inspired by God to translate it and that they think he wrote it himself or that it was the work of a false god or satan. Honestly in my mind i think 'have these people actually read the book with and open heart and open mind???' I feel like someone who is looking to find fault or error will find it and if you are looking for truth and light, you will also find it. The law of attraction is real folks. One thing i know for sure is that The Book of Mormon teaches of Christ and His goodness and mercy. His sacrifice for all mankind and his GRACE! Why would anyone hate this book? Do they not want to have a better life full of light and hope and joy? Okay, back on track. So he goes on to say that 1. that there is noooo way that Joseph could have done that in 1 sitting. 1 draft. no mistakes. Never got a name wrong or a place wrong even though he had never heard of any of these places, without the divine guidance from God the Father. Even Brother Callister said that the book he wrote took him over 70 drafts! And he is lawyer for goodness sakes! He mentioned this to President Nelson and he said the same thing, It has taken him dozens of drafts just to write an 10-15 conference talk! Second, Brother Callister also mentioned that during all of his research and study he found that there were several accounts of the witnesses. We usually hear of only a few but he said he found dozens! People always want proof that the Book of Mormon is true. Do your research and you will find that this book was inspired of God and brought forth through the power of God.

This experience was exactly what i was looking for and it was so uplifting as well. I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon and the teachings it holds. I learn from it all the time. It is full of nuggets of wisdom and direction for how we can return to live with our Heavenly Father with our families again.
Read it. Ponder it. Prayer about it.

The past week or so, I have been feeling really down. Not like emotional down, but spiritually down. I can feel satan working on me by using my hard feelings toward others to stir inside me and create hatred and anger and ultimately the distance of Gods presence. He is working hard. I feel evil around me and i'm getting mad easily and short with Jared and Luna especially. She is at the most difficult age so far. 22 months. She is testing my patience and i'm giving into the adversary hard core. On top of that, Jared has been struggling with things and that isn't making matters better. I had a massage with Tony and i was telling him how i was feeling and he told me that sometimes that happens to him and every time it has, it has meant that satan in working hard on him because something amazing or spiritual was about to happen. Blessings from 10 day social media fast..

DAY 1- This morning I woke up and played with Luna instead of letting her play alone and get on both my IG accounts and FB. We got up, made oatmeal together and listened to the the La La Land soundtrack and danced! I usually look at my phone on and off during breakfast. After breakfast we played some more, got dressed and cleaned up the house and folded laundry while I listened to a podcast instead of turning the TV on to watch a show. Later this evening I went to the gym and grabbed some food for Jared and I at In n Out. The lines both in and out are always long so i would normally check my phone while i waited in line but i just stood there in thought. while i was waiting i had a thought to get an extra cheeseburger. I didnt know why i had this thought because Luna wouldn't eat that. I didnt get the burger because i have a hard time deciding whether or not in the spirit or just my own thoughts. Come Follow Me Challenge

Staring in January 2019, the prophet announced a new program called, Come, Follow Me. This program is made for individuals and families as a way to strengthen our faith. This weeks challenge was to write down/ share your testimony of Christ and the truth we learn about him from the apostle, John. As we studied in John in the New Testament, there were so many great things to remember about Christ. Here are a few that i picked up as i read: 1. Christ is full of grace & truth 2. He is the source of truth and light 3. He is the creator  4. He was from the beginning  5. He gives power to his believers  6. His is the reason each of us can live eternally, through his atonement we are saved from death.  ( These can be found in John 1: 1-18) These are only a few of the things that describe Christ.
