Surviving Celiac Disease

It's been over two years since my diagnosis and the first year was really hard and discouraging but the second year has been much easier and i feel less and less sorry for myself (haha). Its honestly been a blessing in my life. I have become more aware of my body and what my body needs to thrive. I have been through dozens of needles, dozens of doctors of appointments, phone calls, emails, website after website to try to know my body better. Food is honestly and MAJOR problem and ironically enough, it is usually THE CURE! I am taking better care of myself and using supplements that help heal the gut, vitamins, live probiotics and eating more raw foods and less processed foods.  Between where I live and all the places I've travelled these past 2 years I have come to find that most restaurants are educated and understanding about this disease. It makes me sad that this autoimmune disease is on the rise because its quite life changing, especially for children. I have had a few ...

Luna Turns One!

Image
Last weekend we celebrated Lunas first birthday! We invited close friends and family. She was spoiled with all the things she loves (stuffed animals.) She also got to have some chocolate cake!! I can't believe my baby girl is 1! It was seriously the fastest year of my life and i don't want another to pass by! She is SO chatty and always wants to talk when she wakes up. she always says oohhh and wow! She has a teddy that she is obsessed with and sleeps with every nap and at night.  She dances to music, has enough hair for a tiny ponytail, says momma, daddy, doggy, wow, uh oh and tries to bark like a dog. She loves real life animals too! She loves being with other babies and her cousins.  WE LOVE YOU LUNA!!

It's time to write

Hello, hello! I am glad it hasn't been too long since my last entry. If i go to long, its so hard to remember everything i want to say. Also, thank goodness for instagram! LUNA She is 9 months old and is sitting up and loves it! she hates being on her back and especially belly. She wants to be up and playing with toys and part of the gang! she is really good at playing with herself and her toys. She loves stuffed animals and squeezes them so tight! when she gets really excited about something she opens her mouth really wide and almost shakes out of control cause she gotta have it! I love it. I love her more than anything. She brings us so much joy! she still can't crawl or roll around and still has no teeth.. we always call her grandpa girl. We've been spending our summer days at parks, pools and with other baby friends!  JARED This is where my stresses are coming from. Jared is applying for internships for his last semester at BYU and there are so many great...

Family Update!

Image
Its been 7 or so months since i wrote last. Naturally, a lot of things in my life and our lives in general have changed. I want to write some of my thoughts down because i have an awful memory and really want to be able to look back and smile at these writings... LUNA Luna girl is 7, going on 8 months old. She is ALMOST sitting up by herself, eating solids ( I'm doing baby led weaning or baby led nutrition.) She is always chewing on something because i think she is going to be getting some teeth soon. She is very chatty (especially during relief society!) She smiles when she sees you and freaks out whenever i turn on VeggieTales if I'm trying to get something done.  JARED Jared is in the spring semester at BYU which means its fast track and he's taking 2 of his pretty heavy classes. So he's overwhelmed. He is a counselor in the Elders Quorum Presidency in our ward and he is great at fulfilling his calling. But, again, overwhelmed. Most days he gets to sp...

Luna's Birth Story

Image
Luna was due September 23, 2017. Of course i knew that was just an estimated due date but i hoped she would come on this day or within a few days of that day.  During the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy, i was getting NST's and ultrasounds to track her growth because she was measuring very small. They told me i would most likely get induced early to insure her safety. So i was preparing for that. Well September 23rd came and i was full term. Still nothing too alarming regarding her safety so of course, we just wait. Each day goes by and I'm doing EVERYTHING possible to induce labor. Any weird wives tale, i tried it. The 23rd was a Saturday  Come Monday, i went in for my last NST and the doctor came in to see me after. My fluid was still low but not below induction levels. She was still concerned cause little girl was still measuring really small. At this point i was so sick of being pregnant and was fine with induction. I just wanted her in my arms! She told me she thought i...

The Home Stretch!

Starting my 3rd trimester wasn't too bad. As I started getting bigger, I was finding it more and more difficult to sleep comfortably and breathe normally. The 8 stairs leading to our house became more and more difficult to climb. I think I was a little out of shape. I haven't exercised much during the pregnancy. With my job being so demanding on my body, the last thing I wanted to do was go home and work out at the end of a long work day. July was a really lazy month for both jared and I. A lot of our friends are out doing summer sales so we have been pretty bored and lazy. Jared has been gaining some pregnancy sympathy weight and we haven't been eating super well. Basically Chik-fil-A has been our weakness. Its bad. So we wanted to make August a better month for us and help us get healthy and to help the baby! We went to Calgary the first week of August and the 15 hour drive was pretty tough on my body. Luckily, Jared got me a big pregnancy pillow for my birthday and th...

Thoughts on the family [ The Family: A Proclamation To The World ]

The past 2 weeks in church i have been reading over the family proclamation. Its been on my mind a lot as Jared and I have been discussing how we plan to be parents in the gospel. I have always known this is the greatest responsibility i will ever have and my patriarchal blessing really helps me a lot by laying out what my role as a mother is. As Jared and I have experiences we are starting to make decisions on what we want to do as parents. We know that we always need to involve the Lord in our decision but Jared and I were brought up with really different backgrounds so our pasts are quite different.  Being one of the oldest in my family i have seen a lot and learned a great amount from my parents. It's going to be tough. We were not always perfect at family home evening and family scripture study but  i know my parents tried hard! I was always taught to go to church, to pray, to read my scriptures and choose the right. Basic primary commandments.  The older and mo...
